Ironies of Life's Journey

Walking down the streets of Northampton
That dark and moonlit alley
Has that silver light crept in through your heart's valves
Warm and chill you in your deepest emotions

Away from people's incessant talk
That blatant noise pollution
Have you realised that blasting music spoils your ears
Screams of that dictator seem to hurt you more

Recoiling from recalled broken dreams
That bittersweet memory
How came it to be an act of cowardice
Stemmed from passion's naivety and courage

Silence now staring from hidden stars
That have been overshadowed
Why do they speak volumes of understanding

Vast and unfathomable constellations

Close now to your inner self and heart
That universe infinite
Why does this black hole collapse unto itself
Freedom tempted run to the ends of the earth

Gasping in at this unexpected
That friendship reunited
How it calmed your fears relieved you of worry
An alien gift a great service of the Lord's

Reaching the ends of the streets of life
A stirring realisation
The brush that chooses from emotions' palette
Penultimately paints your final sunset

Standing at these gates of St Peter
Who told you nothing but truth
The streets you once walked to your destination
Chooses for you the stars or the blackest hole
